How to Become a MomsTown Mayor Network FAQ's The business goal of each Mayor is to grow a vibrant local community of moms and attract local advertisers who recognize the importance of local moms to their businesses. There are many ways to generate streams of revenue through a MomsTown site. There is, of course, advertising, local events, online affiliate sales, and many more. As a Mayor, you also get connected to our MomsTown Network of mayors around the country, an amazing group of women! Here are some of the most frequently asked questions. 1. Is my town territory available? That is the most commonly asked question. If you do not see your town listed on the List of Mayors in the navigation then it is most likely available. To be on the safe side, e-mail bigbreak@momstown.com to be sure. 2. What if I live in an area that lends itself to more than one town? Territory is a unique issue and easily addressed over the phone. Call 760-753-7119 or e-mail bigbreak@momstown.com to schedule a call with either Mary or Heather to define your territory. 3. If I express interest in a town site can I have first right of refusal if someone else wants to purchase it? We will take in to consideration all requests though we can't stop someone from purchasing the site. It comes down to first come/first served. 4. Who Can Own a Site? Moms, singles moms, husband & wife, Grandma, two moms as friends, etc...it is open to anyone who wants to own a business. 5. Can I Own a Site in Another Country? Yes. We have a site in Mexico already. 6. How much does it cost? The initial fee is $399 to receive the website and license the MomsTown name for the first year plus $99 for hosting and support. Your monthly fee gives you access to our Network groups, group business coaching with MomsTown leaders, hosting, and support. 7. How do I make money being a Mayor? The program is predicated on a simple strategy, connecting local moms to local businesses. You will get a template website with an e-mail database. Have the moms in your community sign-up for your site to receive a newsletter about what is going on in your town from community events, schools/sports, businesses deals, etc...and the local merchants advertise on your site and in your newsletter to reach that demographic. You set your advertising rates and keep 100% of the profits. 8. How long will it be before I can earn money? That depends on how much time you want to devote to your site. You will get out of it what you put into it. Some moms get their sites up very quickly whereas others take more time. 9. What would I do first to make my site successful? These are the steps we recommend: · When you purchase a site e-mail bigbreak@momstown.com your template choice, either Template 1,2,3,4, or 5 along with the name of your town such as, yourtownmomstown.com and the e-mail you want to use, myemail@yourtownmomstown.com. MomsTown will purchase the domain name and you will have your site within 24 hours (unless it is the weekend then you will have it by Monday). · Once you choose your navigation you can upload your content. MomsTown will send you articles and tips for you to use on your site as long as you give proper attribution. Also, the other moms in the Network are very generous and willing to share content, rate sheets, examples of their newsletters, etc... · Simultaneously, as you add content to your site, send an e-mail to friends and family asking them to sign-up at your site so as you grow it you can send them informative newsletters. Your e-mail database is "Gold" and will help you garner more advertising/sponsorship dollars. 10. What type of support do you offer the Mayors? We know women like to stay connected with one another so we support the Mayor's in the following ways: · We have periodic calls on a bridgeline to answer questions and brainstorm with the Mayor's. · We have an active, private Yahoo Group's where all the Mayor's and Mary & Heather post questions, solutions, rate sheets, marketing materials, inspiring and motivating messages to keep your spirits buoyed as you go through setting up your site and e-mail list. You can feel very connected, though not competitive, with the other moms as all are supporting and cheering one another on. · Mary & Heather are Brand Spokesmoms and focus on achieving more national exposure for our Network to benefit you and your town site. They are currently under contract for a national campaign to promote a simple indulgence, Edward's Singles A' La Modes dessert, and will be in national magazines, on ~25 morning shows across the country and radio as MomsTown.com founders and MomsTown Radio hosts. As Mayor, we also help you start your own local MomsTown Radio Show Host a local show in your town. MomsTown has partnered with wsRadio to offer MomsTown Mayor's a chance to host a radio show in their town. Why? Because local newspapers are folding and local radio and television news programming is mostly nationally syndicated. People are interested in what is happening in their town and who better than a MomsTown Mayor to deliver it? Radio is a great marketing tool for your town site and is a sound strategy for business owners and community leaders to get their message out to the community. It's also a unique way to add another form of advertising for business owners. Being a radio host opens doors. Imagine saying, "I'm the Mayor of
mytownmomstown.com and also host mytown radio; a local radio show for moms."
