Barb's tips . . .

With summer in full swing and an increase of people traveling over the next several months, please keep in mind the following important items:

AIRPORT ARRIVAL TIMES

* For domestic flights, check in at least 90 minutes prior to your departure time

* For international flights, check in at least two hours prior to your departure time.

Checking in early may help alleviate many issues!

BE PATIENT

Heavy travel volume and enhanced security procedures mean longer lines at security checkpoints.  Again, getting to the airport early helps for a more relaxing journey.

TRAVEL DAY CHECKLIST TIPS

  • Clothes/necessities for a 48 hour period in carry on bag  (Airlines are misplacing a record number of bags, be prepared)
  • Airline tickets or E-ticket confirmations receipt
  • Government issued photo ID (driver's license)
  • Required travel documents IE passports, drivers license, birth certificate, marriage license
  • Luggage tags
  • Itinerary booklet
  • Travel funds
  • Medication
  • Camera/film
  • Weigh luggage- limit is strictly enforced

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS

  • Confirm departing flights the night before you leave.
  • Keep all travel documents and valuables with you at all times.
  • When packing your luggage be sure to put half of each persons clothing in separate luggage in case your luggage is delayed. That way everyone will have something to wear if luggage is delayed/lost.

MAKE YOUR TRIP BETTER USING 3-1-1:

  • 3-1-1 for Carry Ons: 3-ounce bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear plastic, per person limits teh total liquid volume each traveler can bring. Three ounce container size is a security measure.
  • Consolidate bottles into one bag and X-Ray separately to speed screening.
  • Be prepared: each time TSA searches a carry-on, it slows down the line, practicing 3-1-1 will ensure a faster and easier checkpoint experience.
  • If in doubt, put your liquids in checked luggage
  • Declare large liquids: Prescription medications, baby formula and milk (when traveling with an infant or toddler) are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint.
